Brand Sponsor Descriptions
- Zoos and aquariums receiving product will provide Green HalloweenŽ with a table/booth space if we have a volunteer in your area who is able to attend your event/s.
- Zoos and aquariums receiving product will provide some exposure for Green HalloweenŽ and product partners to connect events' attendees to the product they are sampling or the tips they are receiving. Exposure may be in advertising, event signage, on website, press release, etc. Please send photos, links or scanned images to: Adrienne@veritey.com
For those zoos and aquariums that are not interested in product donations or who cannot receive product donations due to our number/location limitations or the AZA member's previous contractual agreements with other companies, Green Halloween can still offer tips and ideas for your event and guests, and may be able to provide a volunteer for a Green HalloweenŽ booth. Green Halloween is also offering a limited Wholesale Candy program for AZA members.
For questions about product donation, participation and exposure, please contact Adrienne@veritey.com.
Wholesale Candy program
Many AZA members would like to be involved in Green Halloween, even if donated candy or samples are not available. In order to meet that demand, Green Halloween is introducing a new Wholesale Candy program in 2013.
As a trial until 9/15/13, we're offering select candy options from Green Halloween partner brands. These selections are priced at wholesale rates and include shipping. The special Green Halloween ONLY rates are offered for a short time to AZA members. This program is completely optional and does not impact free product donations (offered by brands to select venues) in any way.
To receive a Wholesale Candy rate sheet, please email Adrienne@veritey.com.
10 Great, green ideas for your zoo/aquarium event
- Consider making one night a Green HalloweenŽ night - at least 50% of all goodies are healthy, healthier or eco-friendly. Have activities that focus on making sustainability fun and educational (eco-costume contests, green arts & crafts, a landfill haunted house, etc.)
- If your zoo or aquarium gives out goodies, consider making them healthy, healthier or more eco-friendly. Give all or a percentage of your goodies a healthy, green overhaul. Whatever the amount, something is better than nothing. (Let Corey know as soon as possible if you would like help connecting with companies that can provide you with product for free or at a reduced cost.)
- Have a "green themed" costume contest (prizes awarded for the best/most creative costumes made with recycled, reused, etc. components) - or, make it easy, and have a "box costume" contest. One prize can go to the best animal! Or, host a costume exchange as part of National Costume Swap DayTM! Free tip sheet and registry (your event will be promoted on the costume swap event site) at: www.CostumeSwapDay.com. Note: your exchange doesnt need to take place on the actual day to be listed.
- Not giving out disposable bags to collect the loot. Instead, have reusable shopping bags that can be used long after the event. We can connect you with ChicoBag, a company who we partner with to make a Green HalloweenŽ trick-or-treat bag, featuring designs created by kids! Or, give a discounted entry fee to your event when kids bring their own bags.
- Have recycle bins available. Mark them clearly and have volunteers standing nearby to help guests know what can and cannot be recycled.
- Have booths to inspire kids to make fun and usable items with candy/goodie wrappers. Cool handbags, wallets, bracelets and other useful items can be crafted from would-be trash (wrappers). (See craft ideas, below.)
- Have on-site food composting.
- Invite health and green-leaning companies to attend/participate for free or a discount.
- Give a portion of the event's proceeds to a conservation project.
- Include Green HalloweenŽ tips on backs of tickets, event pamphlets, your website, and/or on a display when guests come into event, etc.
3 Ways to support the Green HalloweenŽ initiative via your Halloween event:
- Include a mention of Green HalloweenŽ in your advertisements/press releases/commercials/other media and advertising opportunities. You can simply include our logo or say something like, "We're treating kids to healthy fun with the help of Green HalloweenŽ" or "Spooktacular green goodies provided in part by Green HalloweenŽ," etc.
- Include our logo on your site, in print materials, etc. as a place parents can go to find out more tips and tricks on greening up their holiday.
- Let other zoos and aquariums know about us and encourage them to contact us so that we can help support their event(s) as well.
