About Your Coordinator

The 1st Annual Green Halloween festival 2010 was held at Montgomery Mall in North Wales, PA.  The event included many activities including healthy “trick or treasure” trail, art contest, storytelling with costumed characters, and a magic show.  The event was organized by a local mom and Ecopartytime.com’s founder Monica Garg Singhal.

“Green Halloween® National is a nationwide non-profit, grassroots initiative to create healthier and more Earth-friendly holidays.  Traditionally, Halloween is a celebration of Fall harvest and a celtic festivity.  An eco-friendly twist to Halloween celebrations will remind us of its origins and hopefully will bring back the culture of healthier, happier and meaningful holidays.” said Singhal

In addition to Ecopartytime.com, those who have already joined the Green Halloween local event include Whole Foods North Wales, Montgomery Mall, families at Bright Horizons West Point, and North Penn YMCA.

“We greatly appreciate the local community support and are still inviting families, businesses, organizations and schools to be part of this green movement so that we all can raise awareness for healthy eating and celebrate holidays in a more sustainable way” added Singhal.

GreenHalloween.org suggests alternatives such as feathers, shiny rocks, recycled crayons or pencils, stamps, organic fruit leathers, seed packets and yarn bracelets for trick or treasures. On their website, they list dozens of ideas on greening up Halloween costumes, décor and how to dispose of unwanted candy.
