We’ve done all kinds of pumpkin decorating and carving. I like both but I have a slight preference for carving because it’s fun lighting them up.

This year we will be drilling our pumpkins! we scoop out seeds and then use a drill to make holes-either a pattern or random. Add candle, or light and they’re really beautiful!

It’s a great big mess, but pumpkin-carving definitely gets my vote. It’s such an odd-looking thing inside. We like to roast the seeds too!

  13. Mia E Says:

I like pumpkin painting, you can get different details when you use paint. Then when the season is over, wash the paint off, roast it and make pumpkin seeds and pumkin squares… Yummy!

pumpkin carving for sure, the main objective is to get all the seeds out for roasting!

  18. Laura R. Says:

Tough call. It used to be carving, but now that we have little kiddos, sharp knives don’t seem like such a good idea!

Pumpkin carving. It’s classic. Although, I hate touching all the ‘guts.’

We carve so that the seeds can be roasted and the kids get the excitement of lighting a candle to put inside!

    Carving!

    Both are great!

  24. Tom O Says:

    Carving!

  26. Flibitz Says:

Little one isn’t old enough for a knife, so painting it is. Though we’re also leaning towards the ‘mr. potato head’ method of decorating.
