  2. Mary Wagner-Kimbrel Says:

I’m so disappointed! When I got the email informing me of this event, I immediately ordered the candy. However, there was only an option for one kit. I sent a notice asking if there was a way to get more so we could hand them out to all the builders’ employees we see on each plat we work on and leave them in all the houses we clean, but it was too late. I would like to suggest you explain an easy(easier) way to order for businesses, not just individuals since I couldn’t find a way to do it in time. Maybe you could send out a notice sooner too about the event – it’s such a GREAT idea !!!!!! Thanks for all you do, Mary Final Inspection Cleaning (425)821-1784.

Discover when do baby boy start talking. Most babies say their first words sometime around their first birthday. But babies can start communicating long before that. Before babies start talking they are gathering and absorbing information. That information eventually becomes the foundation of the first baby talk. And the best way for parents to help their babies make it to those first words, and help their language development thrive from there on, is to talk to them.

I really like your blog and i respect your work. I’ll be a frequent visitor.

  2. laurie Says:

My daughter loves the Itsy Bitsy Spider, so with a cool spider costumer for her we were thinking of making one adult a spider web and one adult the rain and sun… both should be pretty easy by re-using materials around the house!

  3. Harrisons Halloween Costumes Says:

Thank you for writing about my 100% Cotton Adorable Spooky Baby Costumes for Your Little Monster’s First Green Halloween! I hope some of your visitors will enter the contest on your blog for a Free Costume!

  4. Marleen Says:

As a child we would use items around the house to create a costume. I cannot ever remember being disapointed with the end product! its a scavenger hunt with the reward of going to door to door through the neighborhood! Win WIN :)

  5. Cynthia Says:

I’ve just started seeing all the mega-Halloween-costume stores popping up and I’m more determined than ever for my kids to be GREEN with their costumes this year! I hate the thought of spending yet another $25 on a flimsy costume at a random store…

My family loves Green Halloween :)

  6. theresa Says:

WOW! Obviously the ladies at Green Halloween would locate and then give away adorable 100% cotton costumes!

  7. Tracy Says:

I just sent 3 kids back to college – I sure wish there had been such a great costume option when they were young. And the contest is a great idea!

  8. Jill Says:

I love this! Our costumes are always homemade, so this would be a wonderful treat. We love celebrating Green Halloweens!

My girlfriend has a 4 month old boy that would make a perfect spider! That’s the cutest costume ever- I’m so glad to be able to give her these ideas!

  12. Leslie Says:

I love this! As it is still hot at Halloween time where I live, this would be a perfect option for my newborn, rather than those hot, polyester numbers!

  13. Wenonah Says:

These costumes are so cute! I have always made costumes. There are not really any other options in the retail market to the polyester junk in the megastores. Harrisons, it would be great if you made larger sizes!

  14. Lori Says:

Our daughter is 4 months old and I’m already excited about her first Halloween. Thanks!

  15. Mely Buckmeier Says:

I would love to win! :)

Adorably eco, handpowered flashlights

flashlightGroup Safety experts recommend using flashlights on Halloween to light the way for trick-or-treaters and to alert drivers to their presence.

But conventional flashlights use batteries – which, as most greenies know, aren’t such a treat for our planet.

Although using rechargeable batteries is a great, green option, eventually, they too will need to be dumped.

Enter people-powered flashlights: a fun and eco-friendly option. Some you shake, some you crank, and some you squeeze.

We’re nuts about these sweet, squeezable flashlights from www.GreenPartyGoods.com (and they cost just $8!). The owner, Carole, sent my girls two to try and they’ve been the holed up in dark corners of the house playing with them ever since!

We have a hunch these are Halloween accessories your kiddies will love  – and your Mother (Earth) will be grateful for.

It’s never too early to start thinking about DIY costumes

250px-Halloween_at_Potomac_Hall

Today Google Alerts delivered a series of blog posts into my in-box from the site www.TheAdventurousWriter.com.

(I’m so excited to know that other people are thinking about costumes in mid-July!)

The author made a few (creative and funny) lists I think you’ll be thrilled as I was to see:

Of course, if you are going to make your costume/s this year, be sure to use “green” materials (used, discarded, recycled, sustainably sourced, etc.).

Stay tuned for some great pics of DIY costumes from Green Halloween 2008! (Feel free to submit photos or tell us about them, below).
