Weeeee’re baaaaaaaaack!

Hello fellow Green Halloween-ers! Oh, how we missed you!

As you may or may not know, for the last 5 months we’ve been writing over at the Celebrate Green! blog. But now that Halloween is right around the corner (at least in our world), we’re back to get this party started.

But we have a lot to do in a short period of time, so we’re knocking at your door (in costume, of course) asking for help.

After all, you know it takes a village to change the world (and raise a baby, of course, but we’re doing that over here.)

What can you do? (Thanks so much for asking!) Here is what we need:

1. Sponsors. Do you own or work for a company that wants to support our efforts, or do you know of one that might?

Green Halloween’s success and ability to expand to cities coast-to-coast depends on individual, government and corporate sponsors. Every dollar we receive goes directly into our efforts to raise generations of healthy children in a healthy world through this fun and engaging initiative. In addition, all profits are donated to like-minded organizations such as Treeswing and Healthy Child, Healthy World.

2. Volunteer coordinators. Do you want to help bring Green Halloween to your city in a big way? Help with events and local marketing efforts by giving your time, energy and passion to a fun and worthwhile cause. E-mail us if you have questions or want to sign on today.

3. Media contacts. While we’ve had an incredible amount of press – one of the best ways to get our message out in the biggest way possible is through the media. We’d be grateful for any connections you may have, whether they’re for television, radio, print or online.

4. Ideas. Green Halloween is a grassroots, community initiative. This is not Corey & Lynn’s  eco-Halloween makeover project. (Although that does have a nice ring to it). This is a movement of the people, for the people and from the people (okay, maybe that doesn’t sound right – but you know what we mean). The point is that if you have ideas on how we can make bigger, wider, greener waves, we’d love to hear from you. And if you can help us to put those ideas into action, you’ll be our best friend. Forever. Start by taking our Green Halloween survey here.

5. Friends. We love connecting. Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and our various blogs help us to stay in touch with people like you: people who are  passionate about making the world a better place, and who don’t laugh when they say that. But, Corey’s grandfather said, you can never have too many friends, so we’d love to include more in our circle.

As you go about your daily e-connecting, please let your friends know about our website, this blog, and our newsletter (sign on from our homepage). Because, like that old  song, “‘…’Cause my friends are your friends, and your friends are my friends, oh the more we get together the happier we’ll be!”

Thank you, thank you, thank you for whatever you can do to be involved.

… Stay tuned for some exciting updates and announcements about Green Halloween 2009!

Where in the World is Corey? (She returns with a sweet gift for you)

Okay, so it’s January.

The truth is, time got away from me.

The whirlwind of Green Halloween didn’t end with the beginning of November and needless to say, it’s still going!

But here’s the good news: my New Year’s pledge is to keep you in-the-loop with the latest and greatest tips, tricks, updates and ideas – but there’s a twist. From February through August, I’ll be blogging on our parent site, www.CelebrateGreen.net.

Be sure to visit us there for everything you need to know (and a few things you just might want to know) on greening up all of your holidays and special occasions.

To sweeten the deal, I have a very special gift for you: Right now, Green Halloween’s newsletter subscribers can receive one copy of our book, Celebrate Green! at 40% off.

Want more? When you purchase your copy you’ll receive a cool ChicoBag for FREE.

And here’s the icing on the already sweet cake. Our books are sold with the option of having a tree planted for $1 through EcoLibris. When you do, you’ll get a nifty sticker to place in a special spot on the back of your book. (Celebrate Green! is printed on 100% post-consumer waste recycled, FSC certified paper, but we think tree planting is a good idea, don’t you?)

Interested? Sign up for the Green Halloween newsletter today (top of the homepage) and receive the secret link in an upcoming edition.

Signing off (until August) or should I say, “signing over” -

Corey

Green Halloween was a smash hit!

The first word that comes to mind is: WOW.

The second word is THANK YOU.

(Okay, that’s two words, but who’s counting?)

Green Halloween 2008 was amazing. Thanks to you.

From coast-to-cast parents, neighborhoods, schools, organizations, businesses and even entire cities, came together to give Halloween a healthier, more sustainable makeover. Because of your passion, your support, your willingness to share your ideas and your willingness to try something new, Green Halloween was even bigger and better than we could ever imagine. (Did we already mention that we think you rock?)

It’s hard to calculate just how many people took part in year two, but here are a few stats I think you’ll be excited about:

  • 14,500 – The number of unique visitors on Green Halloween’s website in the week before Halloween.
  • 37, 500 –  The number of unique visitors we welcomed on Green Halloween’s site during the official Green Halloween period from 9/1/08 – 11/15/08.
  • 100 + – The estimated number of websites and blogs that featured the Green Halloween initiative. Sites included Home & Garden Television (HGTV.com), Disney’s Ideal Bite, A Fresh Squeeze, Cool Mom Picks, Planet Green, Big Green Purse, EcoStilleto and Daily Candy. (If you wrote or blogged about Green Halloween, you’ve been elevated to saint status).

And the press was excited about us too. From a article in KIWI magazine to a cover story in the Seattle Times’‘ Sunday magazine to a mention on Access Hollywood to an interview on Martha Stewart Radio – we were able to mainstream our initiative in a big, big way. (For a list of all of our press, click here.)

Thank you for whatever you did to green your Halloween – whatever it was, know that you made a difference.

Your Mother (Earth) would be proud.
